Maggie Dent

Commonly known as the "queen of common sense", Maggie Dent has become one of Australia's favourite parenting authors and educators, with a particular interest in the early years, adolescence and resilience.

Maggie's experience includes teaching, counselling, and working in palliative care/funeral services and suicide prevention. Maggie is an advocate for the healthy, common-sense raising of children in order to strengthen families and communities. She is a passionate, positive voice for children of all ages.

We are fortunate enough to have Maggie coming to SJGS on Wednesday 7 March 2018 to present a parent seminar on the topic of " The Importance of Calmness, Silence and Stillness in Children's Lives". This seminar is open to the wider community, not just parents of students at SJGS.

Tickets for the event are $12 each and are available at :  https://www.trybooking.com/SYBB

Seminar Topic: The Importance of Calmness, Silence and Stillness in Children's Lives

It is so challenging for modern parents to create calmness, silence and stillness in their homes but it is an important and inspirational life resilience skill for children to develop. In this seminar, you will learn about the main causes of childhood stress, anxiety and disruptive behaviour and what you can do to prevent it. She will also address the key concerns of adolescent stress. Maggie will explore ways to calm nervous systems, homes and schools. Calmness can be learned! This seminar explores stress in today's world and ways to reduce it and is full of practical tips to take away.
