2017 Graduate on the right side of the law...and the catwalk!

Shanaya King graduated Serpentine Jarrahdale Grammar School in 2017 as Environment prefect and Captain of the Equestrian team. Though out her schooling Shanaya was indecisive on what she wanted to do after graduation, the Western Australian Police Force was a potential career option but never thought she could be mentally strong enough to cope with the pressures that came with the job.

After having a chat with family and friends in the job, Shanaya decided to give it a go and hand in her application to become a Cadet as she had nothing to lose. The 6 month application process consisted of a number of exams such as; physical, written and visual. Shanaya was then invited back for a panel interview and DNA testing before finally in April getting the call that she was now employed by the Western Australian Police and had been placed into a squad of 17, which had over 150 applicants!

Shanaya is now posted at Mundijong Police Station where she's learnt so much by going out on pursuits, attending car crashes, doing RBTs and dealing with all the different types of people that attend the station, to just name a few things.

Shanaya's cadet squad is required to meet at the Police academy every Thursday morning, to do a 2 hour Physical Training session, where there are 4 personal trainers that make sure they all wake up sore the next morning. Physical training is definitely a major aspect to policing and also a great character building lesson for every squad.  At the end of the year to middle of next year, Shanaya is going to apply for a position in the recruit squad, where at the end of the 28 week course, I'll become a constable.

Shanaya's ultimate end goal is to become a Detective Sergeant or maybe even to join Covert Operations. On top of being in the police force, Shanaya is still competitively competing her horse 'My Caballo' and has signed to modeling agency, Chadwick Modelling and has offered to walk in major events like Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, Fremantle Fashion show and fashion events held at the Crown.
