Birth Notice in Year 1

On Wednesday the 25th of October we spotted a new little face in our chicken coop. After carefully lifting our hens we saw a tiny yellow chicken making a lot of noise and looking right at all of us. We quickly did some research about how to set up our class brooder box and got straight into constructing it so we could keep our little chick in our classroom. The chicken took a little while to gain its strength and was very wobbly on its legs. We found out that it takes a lot of energy to hatch out of an egg and often this will leave chicks very exhausted and sleepy. 

The next step was to give our chicken a name. The Year 1's all voted for their favourite name out of four that we chose randomly from our very long and interesting name list. 

So we would love to welcome BUBBLES to SJGS!
