Bake sale a great success

Students from all year groups (and their parents!) generously baked delicious cakes, muffins, cookies and other yummy treats for our Anglicare bake sale today. All funds raised will go towards purchasing $10 gift vouchers to Target and Big W which will be included in the Anglicare 'Street Connect Christmas Care Packs' being put together by our Anglicare Ambassadors.

The staff and students at SJGS clearly LOVE their baked goods and getting behind a great initiative as a huge $383 was raised.

Student leader Angela Gossage said it was such a great way for the SJGS community to give back and who doesn't love a bake sale!

"The students were all super excited, the younger students walked around trying to figure out how much they could buy with their money and would have happily eaten one of everything! We (the student leaders) were pleasantly surprised with the success of the event" she said.

Due to the huge supply of yummy treats, the primary school students were treated to the 'leftovers'!

Street Connect is a youth friendly outreach service which assists homeless and "at risk" young people aged 15 – 25 in the Perth inner city area in making positive life changes. Street connect provides information on a range of issues such as accommodation, physical and mental health along with support, crisis intervention and case management.

We hope that by the SJGS community getting involved and donating a range of items it can make Christmas a little brighter for the WA youth who are less fortunate.
