Bishop Road Clean Up

On Monday 26 th February the Serpentine Jarrahdale Grammar School Police Rangers, as part of their Community Service, conducted a 3 km road-side clean-up of Bishop Road, a road the School has sponsored as part of the Keep Australia Beautiful Adopt a Spot program. 18 Police Rangers and 5 Instructors, donned their high-vis and took part in an hour-long clean up collecting over thirty bags of rubbish. The students were amazed and also disgusted at the amount of domestic waste that had simply been thrown out the window. Given this road is regularly cleaned by SJ students, we know our message of Respect for Environment is one that needs constant reiteration. Students mentioned that this was something that needed to be done and that their contribution had made a significant difference in the aesthetics of their journey to school. 'What we have to do now is educate people,' one student mentioned as they became frustrated at the amount of waste found in the road side gutters. Serpentine Jarrahdale Grammar School Police Rangers will continue to keep their adopted spot clean and several students have expressed interest in expanding the program to others areas of need
