Equestrian at SJGS
Being situated in one of the most prominent equine areas in the state it is no surprise that over the school holiday period many of our student's saddled up their horses and represented not only the School but also the State at Equestrian events.
Three of our SJGS students made the trip across the Nullabor to compete in the 2018 Australian Polocrosse Junior Classic held in Albury from April 20-22, while six SJGS students stayed in our home state and represented the School at the EWA Interschool Championships held at the State Equestrian Centre from April 18-20.
Pippa May, Tess May and Seamus Galvin all play Polocrosse for local Serpentine Foothills Polocrosse Club and made the trip to Albury in New South Wales for one of the biggest Junior Polocrosse Competitions in the country. Pippa was in a state team that represented WA while Seamus and Tess will be playing with a mix of players from around the country. This will serve as a welcome 'warm up' for these talented students as all three have been selected into age relevant squads to play for WA in the Polocrosse National Championships in October. Year 10 student Pippa May and her team competed very well winning the Division 2 Australian Polocrosse Junior Classic Cup!
The team of SJGS riders that competed at the Interschool Championship was made up from students in years 2 – 11. These students competed against over 100 students from schools across the state gaining valuable points to go towards a total tally.
The team competed very well with some great results! The final overall School results will be published soon and we look forward to seeing how SJGS went.
A big thank you to SJ Rural Supplies and Alka Pellet PH Plus for the sponsorship of the 2018 Interschool Team.
